Coaching is an essential technique for rider and driver trainers to help deliver more effective training. This Coaching Skills Classroom Workshop provides comprehensive training on coaching principles and techniques that can be applied to daily work life and business. With a focus on coaching for standard check and PDI part 3 preparation, this course covers all aspects of coaching, including the GROW model, SMART goals, and client-centered learning, to help trainers build better rapport with their learners and achieve the best results in their lessons.
This course provides a supportive and non-judgmental environment for trainers to improve their coaching skills, and participants will have the opportunity to practice coaching techniques in break-out groups and group discussions. This workshop is inclusive and welcoming to all ADIs, PDIs, and rider trainers, regardless of their experience level.
What you'll learn
- The principles of coaching and how to apply them in daily work life and business
- The GROW model, SMART goals, and other tools to help build rapport with learners and achieve the best results in lessons, standards check, or PDI part 3 test
- How to create client-centered learning environments that meet the needs of learners
- How to ask effective questions and deliver impactful coaching sessions that help learners develop their skills and confidence
- How to practice coaching skills in a safe and supportive environment, with coaching case studies, break-out groups, and group discussions
- Additional coaching skills for trainers who work with post-test clients, such as fleet drivers or experienced riders
Participants will receive all materials required for the workshop, including handouts and worksheets, to help them develop their coaching skills and provide a framework for their training sessions. Additionally, participants will receive a DIA CPD certification in Applied Coaching at the end of the course, recognizing the skills and knowledge they have gained.

Karen Bransgrove – General Manager and Chief Examiner | DIA Karen is a highly skilled professional with extensive experience in the driver trainer industry. As the manager of our post-test training brand Diamond, and overseeing the daily operations of the DIA team, Karen brings a wealth of knowledge to her role. With a background in running a recruitment company in central London, Karen’s expertise extends beyond driver training. She is a qualified ADI, fleet trainer, and business coach, and has been with the DIA for over 8 years. Karen’s vast experience makes her the ideal course leader for our fleet, safeguarding, standards check, business, and Diamond examiner qualification courses. She is also an active contributor to helping ADIs with their businesses and continuing professional development.
