Delivered online so you can work through the learning materials at your own pace, in your own time. Group Zoom study sessions are live so you can ask your questions and get tailored advice directly with the tutor.
You’ll cover the most important aspects of the role of the coach including learning styles, the characteristics of a good coach, client-centred learning, teaching styles, communication and more.
*Each Zoom session will have a 20 participant limit.
*To attend the Zoom sessions you will need a PC, laptop or tablet that can run Zoom and must also have a camera and microphone so you are able to participate fully in the sessions. You are responsible for ensuring you can access and navigate zoom and that you have you have a strong enough internet connection. If you cannot join the session due to technical difficulties, we cannot guarantee that you will be moved to another session.

About the trainer
Dr James Whalen
The trainer for this course is Dr James Whalen. Jim works as an ADI in Wolverhampton running an independent driving school. He works as a Regional Trainer with the Driving Instructors Association which involves writing and running courses, writing training articles and marking papers for the Diploma in Driving Education. Having been involved as a coach for the British Tenpin Bowling Association for 13 years Jim is able to bring extra insight when delivering coaching courses for driver trainers.
Qualifications: Qualified as an ADI in 1991, DVSA Fleet Badge, BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Business, PhD in Cognitive Psychology specialising in Driver Behaviour and Level 4 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
