Vehicle technology has been developing rapidly over the last 20 years
Air conditioning, parking sensors and phone connectivity are now usually included as standard in all cars. Improved safety features are making cars safer for drivers, other road users and pedestrians.
All drivers need to understand what equipment their vehicles have, and more importantly, how to use it correctly. As an ADI your students will all be driving different vehicles so you will need to have a comprehensive understanding of all major vehicle technologies so you can help ensure that your students will use them safely and correctly.
This section will look at the following areas:
- Cruise Control
- Lane departure systems
- Electronic braking
- Matrix headlights
- Reversing cameras
- Hillstart assist
- Adaptive front lighting systems
You may already have some experience with these technologies and may even have them on your vehicle. The aim of this section is to encourage you to research further into these technologies. As an ADI you should keep up to date with all updates and releases within the industry and feed this knowledge back into your training delivery.
