
It is important for all driving instructors to understand driving licence codes and how to identify if their client is legally allowed to drive the vehicle in which they wish to be trained.

The minimum disqualification period is 56 days. For repeat offenders or where the alcohol level is high, it may be longer, e.g. a second drink-drive offence in the space of 10 years will result in a minimum of three years’ disqualification. In some serious cases as well as the disqualification period, the offender will have to pass another ordinary driving test or an extended one according to the nature of the offence.
