An Introduction to Safeguarding
This course will help you to gain a good understanding of safeguarding, making it relevant to your role as an ADI. The course will cover a variety of lessons and topics with quizzes to test what you have learned.
The final case study and quiz will link everything together and help you analyse a situation you may be faced with as an ADI.
Aim:
The aim of the course is to give you an introduction to the principles of safeguarding and how safeguarding issues may impact you as an ADI. It will also provide you with tips on how to recognise potential issues and how to deal with them.
What you’ll learn:
- What safeguarding is and the legislation in place to deal with it
- Safeguarding definitions and who is responsible for dealing with issues
- The different types of abuse and safeguarding issues you may encounter as an ADI
- Why abuse can go unnoticed and the support mechanisms in place if a pupil discloses an issue to you
- What to do if you are not sure if abuse is happening or not
Requirements:
- You will not need any prior knowledge of safeguarding to complete this course
- Internet access
- We advise having a notebook and pen to make notes

Time limits
There is no time limit for the quizzes on this course.
Required pass mark
There is no required pass mark for this course, as long as you work through all the lessons, topics and quizzes the certificate will be available for you to download at the end of the course.
We recommend that you redo the quizzes until you have achieved 100% to get the most out of the course.
